Marketing analysts help companies and organizations decide which products and services to sell, as well as to which customers and at what price. They come to their conclusions by studying market conditions, competitors' activities and consumer behavior.
A successful marketing analyst would possess the following skills on their CV:
- Statistical knowledge and experience.
- Attention to detail.
- Marketing training and strategy.
- The ability to interpret information effectively.
- Knowledge of software such as Excel or SPSS.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Requirements:
- Generally, marketing analysts need at least a bachelor's degree, the BLS reports. Statistics, math, computer science and market research are strong majors, but market analysts also have degrees in communications, business administration or social sciences.
- 5+ years experience in marketing or related field.
- Posses search engines, web analytics, and business research tools acumen.
- Excellent knowledge of statistical packages (SPSS, SAS or similar), databases and MS Office.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
