Ruling party VVD wants Russian hackers added to the EU’s list of sanctioned people to ensure they lose access to their financial accounts in Europe.

“They are hackers who daily attack companies in the Netherlands, our small and medium-sized enterprises, purely to get their hands on money. They are ordinary criminals,” VVD MP Queeny Rajkowski said.

“We know where they are. They are part of Putin’s clique. We have to make sure that we make their lives as difficult as possible,” Rajkowski told RTL Nieuws.

As soon as the hackers are added to the list, “we can grab them if even one wheel of their fat Lamborghini enters a European country,” the VVD MP also said.

The VVD parliamentarian discussed this plan with justice and security minister Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius during the parliamentary debate on online safety and cybersecurity on Thursday (7 April).

“I know it can’t happen overnight. It’s complicated. But that doesn’t mean we can’t do anything. I want to use every opportunity the law offers to deal with these criminals,” Kajkowski added
